Polzeath

Polzeath

A lively beachside atmosphere and excellent wave conditions make Polzeath one of the world’s top surf destinations.

Surfers and non-surfers alike love the laid-back ambience of Polzeath. Clustered around the sand (and even on it) are some fantastic restaurants and cafés. Sit at Surfside, on the edge of the beach, with a famous Polzeath Zombie rum cocktail. Many restaurants also offer a takeaway option, so if you’re fresh from the sea, you can grab a quick drink and settle down outside.

Further along the road is New Polzeath, a later extension of the village surrounded by National Trust land. From here, you can reach Pentireglaze Haven (know to the locals as Baby Bay): a sheltered beach with rock pools and caves.

Top things to do

  • Go surfing, body boarding or paddle boarding (lessons and equipment are available).
  • Bring your family for a swim: there’s lifeguard cover during the summer.
  • Walk along the coast to see the beautiful views from Pentire Point and The Rumps.
  • Play golf or tennis at The Point at Polzeath.
  • Look out for wildlife including dolphins, seals and puffins
  • Watch the sun setting over the sea from one of Polzeath’s scenic vantage points.
  • Take your dog for a run on the beach (it’s dog friendly all year with just a restriction between 15 May and 30 September where dogs are only allowed on the beach before 10am and after 6pm).
