Nestled on the fringes of the idyllic rural hamlet of Trelights, Gwel Mor boasts sweeping countryside views and is less than a ten-minute drive from the historic fishing village of Port Isaac and the golden sands of Polzeath Beach.
At Gwel Mor you can enjoy a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the seaside towns, while being just a short drive from everything the area has to offer. Here you will be on Cornish time in no time at all as you experience the slower pace of village life.
Those with children will love visiting Trevathan Farm located close by in the pretty village of St Endellion. Here you can pick strawberries, pet the animals and enjoy the play area. The Giant Slip and Slide also pops up across the road most years and this is sure to keep little ones (and adults) entertained!
The narrow streets and whitewashed walls of Port Isaac are less than ten minutes away by car. Here you can walk around the pretty harbour and watch the fishermen bring in the catch of the day. Fans of Doc Martin and The Fisherman's Friends can discover the film locations throughout the village. Just around the headland, discover Port Gaverne where you can enjoy a spot of lunch in the beautiful pub or get on the water with Cornish Rock Tors.
If you enjoy surfing, Polzeath is a ten-minute drive away. Here you can hire wetsuits and boards from the local surf schools, and lessons are available for all ages and abilities. From Polzeath you can pick up the scenic coast path leading to Pentire Point and The Rumps. Both are great spots for a picnic and watching the sunset.
The popular village of Rock is just a 10-15-minute drive away. If you enjoy water sports, you can take a sailing or water-skiing lesson with the Rock Sailing and Water Ski Club. Regular sea safaris leave from the pontoon and offer a great chance to spot local wildlife. The St Enodoc Golf Club is also found in Rock and has two fantastic courses, both with stunning views. The beach at Rock is long and beautiful and from here you can walk across to Daymer Bay at low tide.
